GetFlight.com.au launches today as the first and only site dedicated to sale airfares for Australians

25 May 2011 - Now Australian travelers can search for and subscribe to direct-from-airline sale airfares on just one site. GetFlight.com.au, launching today, becomes the first and only site dedicated to sale airfares for flights in and from Australia.

GetFlight.com.au tracks sale fares for each of the four major domestic carriers, as well as some of the largest international airlines that operate in and out of Australia. Each day it publishes up to 1,200 sale airfares to up to and around 100 cities in over 30 countries.

Ian Cumming, Principal Founder of GetFlight, said: “We believe GetFlight is an innovative deals hub that will save Australians time and money when booking their flights. Many Australians are inundated with the amount of deal emails they receive. With GetFlight, consumers can simply subscribe to the routes that interest them, and receive just one email notification if and when their destination goes on sale.”

According to a recent U.S. survey from Savings.com, seven out of 10 consumers indicate they receive anywhere from one to more than 20 deal emails every day. Because of the difficulty in managing the influx of offers, nearly half (47%) admit they end up deleting the daily emails.

GetFlight.com.au, which charges no booking fees – or any fees for that matter – directs users to the airline websites for purchasing, ensuring customers get the lowest fare available without having to pay a middle man.

“We created this concept because we thought Australians needed an easy and effective site to search and find the lowest fares available. We believe we’ve successfully created a simple, easy-to-use airfare search engine that redirects customers to the airlines’ websites, ensuring they get the cheapest sale airfare without paying any fees. GetFlight is an independent Sydney-based initiative founded by Ian Cumming and his team of travel and technology experts. Mr Cumming, the Principal Founder, previously founded Travellr.com, which he sold to The World Nomads Group in 2009. Mr Cumming is also the Founder of Travel Massive, a global travel technology networking group previously known as Travel Tribe. Mr Takaya previously worked with some of Australia’s largest OTAs and international airlines in public relations and stakeholder engagement.

·         Search by Price – Australians with a certain amount of money to spend on airfare (e.g. $200), can search for the cheapest fares to anywhere, and determine just how far ($200) will get them

·         Search by Carrier – Users who prefer only two or three of the airlines that GetFlight.com.au tracks can search for specific carriers, which eliminates airlines they don’t want to travel with from their search results

·         Search Direct – Australians can use this in the same way they would use an Online Travel Agent, choosing specific dates and specific or all carriers they want to fly with – it just redirects purchase to the airlines’ direct websites for the cheapest fares available

·         A Simple Interface – GetFlight.com.au believes finding the right flight should be quick and easy, so it does not include loads of pages or flight results that inundate a person’s browser.

·         Email Subscription – Deal-savvy Australians can simply enter their email addresses for specific routes, and GetFlight automatically notifies them when a new deal is released.
